It is officially time for a new (as in "new to us"), used car. This past Saturday, I was driving up to the mountains with Lukas when the car starting making an unfriendly sound and then died. Fortunately, I found one bar of cell phone reception and was able to call Brett to let him know where I was so he could come get us. After several minutes, I was able to get the car started again and found a better spot (with consistent phone reception) to meet up with Brett. Brett is such a handy fella and really is mechanically gifted, but after looking it over, he came to the conclusion that fixing the Escort would be a lost cause.
This car has really been a blessing...my dad had given it to me when I went away to college, and where I heard the good news of Christ and became a believer...10 years ago! It has taken us many places...home for the holidays, our move from Missouri to Colorado, appointments with old friends and new friends, as well as campuses throughout Colorado. It has over 231,000 miles on it! Well done Ford Escort...well done. Please pray for the future vehicle God has in store for our family and ministry. Our hope is that it will be a manual that gets great gas mileage and lasts a long time, just like this little car did.
