"...Talkin' 'bout my girl...my girl."
Ok...enough singing for now. :) I did want to tell you about my girls...the women that I have been spending the majority of my time with on campus. Heidi is a senior. She has an AMAZING life story. Her acceptance and love of Jesus has truly transformed this young woman. She loves people. And C.S. Lewis (his books, anyways). She also loves to share Truth with others, and she longs to see God move in their lives as He has been faithful to do in hers. Next year she hopes to be a mentor with the Honor Academy, a ministry branch of Teen Mania. I spend most of my time on campus with Heidi and discipling her. She, in turn, disciples Michelle & Melissa (who I like to call M&M). Michelle is a junior and Music Education major. I first met her on our leaders' retreat, and she is such a sweetheart! She is a cheerful person and very kind. This year she stepped up to lead a Bible study for the women of Central Campus (1/2 of the UNC campus!), the same Bible study she was a member of last year. Melissa is a sophomore and Early Childhood Education major. Melissa became a believer and follower of Jesus in high school during a retreat she attended with friends. She didn't grow up going to church, but chose to go with her high school friends. She continues to grow in her faith by being involved in the Crusade community at UNC. She also was a member of the Central Campus Bible study last year and now co-leads with Michelle. These are just a couple of the brave and willing leaders that God raised up and has entrusted to us. I'm so grateful for these beautiful women, and for the time that I get to spend with them. This past Tuesday night, I had them over for dinner before their weekly Bible study on campus. The 10th was Heidi's birthday, so we celebrated that too. :)

We spent the past weekend in Estes Park, CO. Vacation?...Guess again. Was it restful?...Not so much. However it was beautiful, in more ways than one. We were at the YMCA of the Rockies with hundreds of Colorado college students for Rocky Mountain Getaway (RMGA). The gospel was shared, students were challenged, and friendships were strengthened. And the leaves of the aspen trees had not all fallen, so there were some lovely sights to see too. ;) Seasons are such a good thing...God knew what he was doing. Seasons of the year, seasons of life...they can be short or they can last a while, but eventually change will come and time brings a new season. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 A Time for Everything There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. |
