"It can look like the clouds are gathering for a storm, but I can rest because I have God's companionship and that is enough. Decisions aren't so harrowing-because I know the light dawns slowly but will come as needed." - Jan Johnson Many changes have taken place this school year in our ministry with Cru and we would like to give you an update. Back in October the Cru leaders in our region decided to merge our staff team in Greeley with the staff team in Fort Collins at Colorado State University, 45 minutes away. The merge of the two teams means that our new team will now be working out of Fort Collins to reach both the CSU and UNC campuses moving forward. As we have observed these changes and worked under the new structure we have determined through much prayer and wise counsel that the Lord is not leading us to move to Fort Collins, and that for us to continue to most effectively reach students at UNC, it will be best for us to part ways with Cru and partner with another ministry that maintains a local UNC team.
As we reflect over the past 15 years of ministry with Cru (almost 10 at the University of Northern Colorado) we have so many wonderful memories of students that we have had the privilege of ministering to through Cru. Many became true followers of Jesus in college and many more developed a deeper relationship with Him. Today many of these alumni are changing the world as pastors, missionaries, and leaders in their local churches. Their relationships with God will impact many future generations. We also have been impacted by Cru and are excited to continue reaching students with the life-changing news of the gospel. As we surrendered our roles of serving the Lord with Cru for 15 years, our gracious God provided a place for us with another ministry called Christian Challenge. Earlier this month, we began a process of conversations and interviews with this ministry that has a presence on the University of Northern Colorado campus. With our years of serving “side-by-side” on the same campus, we were familiar with the ministry and its staff. Our vision for reaching students with the wonderful news of the gospel has not changed, nor has our call to serve the Lord by ministering to college students. We will soon be in touch with each of you to provide more details about this ministry, but if you’d like to look it up for yourself you can go to https://www.uncchallenge.com/ We admit that we’d usually like to know God’s plan before we agree to it, but we’re beginning to understand that’s not always how He rolls. He is sovereign and we trust His plan for us. He is faithful and true. Please pray with us during this transition: for the staff and students of both ministries, for our boys, and for us. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. - Psalm 95:6-7 We will be leaving staff with Cru at the end of January and would recommend that your gifts to our ministry end as soon as possible.
