Jenai's full story included her spending the first part of her summer in San Diego sharing the gospel with people on the beach and students on campus before traveling to India where it was illegal to talk about religion. While there she encountered a girl studying nursing who had heard the name of Jesus years ago. For her own security we can't share her name with you, but we'll call her Anika. She knew that he was someone that Christians prayed to and although she was Hindu she didn't see a problem praying to another god. After praying to Him, Anika felt the most peace that she had ever felt before or since. During their brief introduction while Jenai was still getting to know her, Anika interrupted Jenai by touching her on the shoulder and asked if she was a Christian. Jenai hadn’t mentioned anything about spiritual things at this point and was caught off guard. Jenai said, “Yes, but what made you think that?” Anika responded by telling Jenai about how she had prayed to Jesus once before and that peace that she had felt then was the same peace that she felt now while talking to Jenai. She was so taken aback that Jenai said, what would you like to know and Anika responded by asking Jenai to tell her the story of Jesus. Jenai had a New Testament with her that she felt like she was supposed to take with her that day even though the people leading her trip had advised the students not to carry Bibles because their safety could be jeopardized if they were caught with them. After reading some scripture from the book of John and talking about Jesus for over an hour the girl shared that she was going to think about praying exclusively to Jesus, but she was afraid that she would be outcast from her family and friends. Although she tried, Jenai wasn't able to connect with Anika again before she had to come back to the United States, but thankfully one of her roommates became a Christian through hearing the gospel from other Cru students that were also a part of Jenai's mission trip. Please join us and Jenai in praying that Anika and the other women on this campus who have now heard the gospel would fully commit their lives to Jesus despite the challenges that face someone who accepts Christ in their culture. Because it is illegal to talk about Christianity in that part of India, please also pray that their faith would grow and reach others in their school, city, and country.
