In one week, Lukas will be 2 years old. Crazy! (I'm thinking about this now and sharing some thoughts with you because we are cancelling our internet service tomorrow...we are moving on his birthday, but I'll be sure to let you know how we celebrate him after we get internet service again.)
I've been reflecting on the year, and there have been so many changes! Luke went from crawling, to walking, to running (he likes to announce that he's running when he's doing it). :) He went from simple sounds and crying to words, phrases, and still plenty of crying. ;) And of course another big change is thinking of Luke as a big brother. He's going to do such a great job! He's such a sweet and loving boy. He enjoys giving us hugs and kisses. He often asks for hugs too. Even now he likes to play with his truck or train on my tummy as he mentions the baby. :) Parenting is so challenging, but we are also so thankful for Luke. He is a gift of God and he brings us a lot of joy.

There are 3 things about Luke that I want to remember from this day.
First, even though he couldn't repeat the phrase "Happy Mother's Day", he enjoyed saying "Happy Day" instead. Second, Luke said 3 words together for the first time. While we were eating dinner, he said, "More broccoli please." He usually says one or two of these words together (replacing "broccoli" for whatever food item he is interested in), so it was special that he said all three today. Third, after he was already lying down in bed and after I had turned off his light Luke said, "Night night Mommy." Again, something he has been prompted to say in the past, but has never said on his own. I responded with, "Night night Lukey. I love you." Luke's response was a kissing sound. :) Such a sweet boy we have. |
