Our church takes communion almost weekly, and several months ago, Luke started communicating his desire to take it with us. After many conversations with him, we encouraged him to talk to our Pastor. He then got to be a part of a communicants' class that he finished in October. During this time Brett and I were encouraged to think about baptism for Luke. Not only because of our church's traditions, but also because if Luke could understand communion, he could understand baptism too. Brett and I had a lot of discussions, and we often brought up the idea if having Luke wait until he was older. However, whenever we talked to Luke, he continued to communicate his desire to be baptized and take communion because of his love for Jesus and his trust in Him. We didn't want to do anything to squelch his childlike faith when Jesus is the One calling Luke to himself. On November 2nd, Luke was baptized! It was a beautiful and meaningful experience, and a hopeful and proud moment for us as his parents, and we look forward to continuing these conversations with Luke as he pursues his own faith!
