A couple weeks ago, Luke came home from Sunday School with information on what they learned that morning, and it included a blank letter you could use to invite a friend to church. When Luke and I discussed it, I let him know he could invite a friend to church anytime. About a week later, I came home from a baby shower, and Luke told me he had seen our neighbor girl, invited her to church and lunch for Easter! She had told him she couldn't come to church, but she would ask her parents about lunch. I was proud of him for asking (she is about 5 years older than him), and for being so thoughtful. I later sent a message to her parents letting them know they were all welcome. A couple days later, I was told by her mother that they had other plans, but they would stop by for a bit sometime.
Then Easter came. After the service had started, I had taken Luke to his class and was returning to my seat when I saw our neighbors! Thankfully they knew some people from our neighborhood, their daughter's school, etc., so they had already been greeted warmly. After church, they joined us for lunch and were asked by a friend named Justin how they ended up at church that morning. They mentioned we had invited them. I said it started with Luke. "And who can say "no" to a 4 year old?", replied Justin. :) We are so encouraged that they came, and thankful Luke invited his friend. We really do love our neighbors, and enjoyed spending such a meaningful and special day with them!
